Working Hand-In-Hand with God's People

“So that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part  suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.”
1 Corinthians 12:25-26

"I have a strong passion to server others
in any means possible, and I find myself doing so
through MMM's program."

Biography:

Mr. Mwanjikho is 31 years old and is married to Veronica T Mwanjikho. They have no children of their own, but care for eight nephews and two nieces whose parents have passed away.

Mr. Mwanjikho has taken courses in Rural and Community Development. He holds a Malawi School Certificate of Education and a Bachelor Degree in education from the University of Malawi. His experience with development programs include working as a Relief Field Supervisor for one year and, for the past three years, as a Field Officer with MMM’s Shallow Well Program.

Statement of Faith:

“I am a Christian and a full member of the Presbyterian Church. I know Jesus Christ as Lord and Personal Savior.”

Why I work with MMM:
“I desire to support MMM efforts to improve the living standards of Malawians through the provision of protected water.”
“I have a strong passion to serve others in any means possible, and I find myself doing so through MMM’s program.”
“I believe in the saying “people cannot be developed, but can only develop on their own” by our direct involvement in addressing issues that affect us as Malawians.”
Community Involvement & Personal Achievements as a Field Officer:

“I have advocated for maximum community participation in the Shallow Well Program in efforts to solve our own problems with support from MMM.” This has been done through:

Establishing community-based structures (Zone Management Teams, ZMTs) comprised of influential and potential village leaders to act as facilitators of community involvement in the Shallow Well Program.
Addressing community meetings where the village members are encouraged to discuss the way forward to solve their water problems
Assessing training needs among the community-based structures and training them to ensure that the community acquires essential knowledge and skills for sustainable management of their water facilities.
What is the impact of the Shallow Well Program?

The program has positively impacted the community in many ways:

Water related diseases have been reduced.
Time spent collecting water has been reduced.
Children have enough time to attend to classes at school, because they are healthier.
What is the Future of the Shallow Well Program and why is your support so important?

In order for the Shallow Well Program to succeed, two things are necessary:

Continued availability of financial support, which lies in the hands of a donor, and second the hunger for water, which comes from the community.

To the latter, as long as man continues to live, water shall remain a necessity for life. The Shallow Well Program’s future in terms of demand remains high and big. My prayer is to those who are passionate for others who would keep on supporting the Marion Medical Mission Shallow Well Program?

Future needs include:
Yearly courses for village team members to ensure they efficiently carry out their activities, such as repairing and maintaining the wells in their area..
Yearly surveys to verify the functionality of the wells.
Refresher courses for FOs in community development.
Continue raising funds for new wells and capacity building.

How you can help:

Adopt a Field Officer: $10,000/year (this includes salary, fuel, food & lodging while working in the rural areas)
Pray for the Field Officers and the Shallow Well Program.
Tell others about MMM and its programs.

Mr. Mwanjikho has already been 'adopted' but other field officers are still available.

Send any donations for support and/or correspondence to Mr. Mwanjikho to:
