Working Hand-In-Hand with God's People

“So that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part  suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.”
1 Corinthians 12:25-26

"I believe that all people must have access to safe
and clean water, praise God my dreams come true,
here I am with MMM today."

Biography:

Mr. Nyondo is the first born in a family of five children. He is not married and he grew up in the Karonga District, in the northern part of Malawi. He obtained a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Health in 2005 from the constituent college of the University of Malawi, the Polytech and has been working as a Field Officer with MMM since 2006.

Statement of Faith:

“I am a Christian member of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian. I always believe in God in any activity I do for I know it’s God who has made me who I am today. God has done a lot of things for me. For instance, I was selected to go to a University where I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health, and from there I was able to get employed. All this is through the power of God.”

Why I work with MMM:
Everybody needs safe and clean drinking water.
Malawi’s rural communities face life-threatening water and sanitation problems.
Working together with the villages, MMM provides safe drinking water to rural communities in partnership with Livingstonia Synod.

Since I believe that all people must have access to safe and clean drinking water, I thought of working with MMM so that I could belong to a team helping the rural community get access to potable water. Praise God my dreams come true, here I am with MMM today.

Community Involvement & Personal Achievements as a Field Officer:
Since August 2006, I have helped develop rural communities by providing them with safe drinking water from the shallow wells.
Last year I was allocated to 35 wells; however, I managed to install 65 wells.
I have assisted and monitored the Zone Management Teams (ZMTs) in their activities to maintain wells in their areas.
I work hand in hand with ZMTs, taking care of the already existing water points as well as constructing the new wells.
This year, 2007, I expect to install 100 wells.
What is the impact of the Shallow Well Program?

The program is having good impact on the community. Through the safe and clean drinking water, there has been a reduction in waterborne diseases. Water related diseases are a leading cause of childhood morbidity worldwide and in the developing countries in particular. The MMM Shallow Well program has drastically reduced the number of cases.

What is the Future of the Shallow Well Program and why is your support so important?

The program is very helpful to a lot of people in the rural areas; however, the program needs to be expanded and adjusted to any area where people have no place they can get safe and clean drinking water.

Future needs include:
Yearly courses for village team members to ensure they efficiently carry out their activities, such as repairing and maintaining the wells in their area..
Yearly surveys to verify the functionality of the wells.
Refresher courses for FOs in community development.
Continue raising funds for new wells and capacity building.

How you can help:

Adopt a Field Officer: $10,000/year (this includes salary, fuel, food & lodging while working in the rural areas)
Pray for the Field Officers and the Shallow Well Program.
Tell others about MMM and its programs.

Mr. Nyondo is still available for 'adoption'.
